Toshiba’s Surveillance and IP Video Products Group is assisting security professionals in replacing outdated analog CCTV cameras more cost-effectively with state-of-the-art IP network video with the introduction of the new IK-WD04A. This device is a 720p HD mini-dome camera that combines superior value and performance. The camera is well-suited for HD indoor monitoring for retail shops, public spaces and businesses.
Toshiba IP products are recognized across the industry for performance and reliability and an extensive set of features. The IK-WD04A has some important advantages that are not found in other dome cameras in this same price range, like Wide Dynamic Range to correct images in challenging backlight situations.
In addition to that, an SD card slot is also included for local recording of images and video along with a Varifocal 3mm-12mm lens that allows technicians to adjust aperture on the fly. What’s more, the lens also provides 4x optical and 4x digital zoom capabilities in addition to 24″ – 61″ horizontal and 15° – 38° vertical angles. Other image enhancements include Back Light Compensation, Auto Gain, Day/Night imaging and a 1/5 – 1/32000 sec electric shutter.
In order to optimize critical bandwidth and storage space without compromising image quality, this camera incorporates efficient H.264 compression as well as the added convenience of MPEG4 and MJPEG codecs . A plethora of resolution/frame rate options, along with the H.264 compression helps reduce video files by as much as 90%, which results in significantly less network traffic.
Quad-streaming of real-time video is also a possibility at a maximum of 30fps and as many as ten authorized users can remotely access live or recorded video simultaneously. There is also no need to mount the camera near a power source since both power and data are received via Ethernet cable, although the camera can also be powered directly by 12V DC.
